The CTIFMF was formerly known as the Cape Town & Winelands International Film Festival and was established by Leon van der Merwe in 2007. After eight relatively successful years, the festival as it was known has been absorbed into a new company structure with an ambitious vision for it to become the Cannes of Africa.
