In the world of snow, beyond the reach of the railway and down at a remote valley live Zina and her husband Nazar. Nazar’s accusation of Zina having an affair with the railway driver brings the couple into a serious fight. He smashes Zina’s accordion, a gift from the driver, leaving her weeping in the snow. When he hurries out to chase her, he accidentally falls and injures himself badly.
In order to save Nazar, Zina has to use the broken accordion as oxygen pump, filling the cabin with broken tunes.
Time can be blink of seconds or eternity. If love is here, time goes nowhere.
Artistic Merit Award at The 2nd BRICS Film Festival
Presented by Xstream Pictures (Beijing) and Huanxi Media Group Ltd. with Jia Zhang-ke as the producer, “Where Has Time Gone?” is an anthology feature film showing five segments directed by five directors from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, exploring the theme of time and love through their own perspectives.
Caught in frenzied spiral of economic and social development, people are always trying to keep up and chase faster pace of life. It almost becomes an addition that real people and things around individuals are ignored. It is especially true in BRICS countries that are experiencing almost aggressive development where people constantly feel time has lost, hence raise the question “Where has time gone?”.
